I love Elmer's books. Elmer is a sweet elephant. But he is not grey as elephants, he is patchwork!
I've become a storyteller and I bring you a podcast with the story of Elmer:
You can download Elmer's book in .pps format here and it can be used it in an interactive white board while listening the podcast. Then we can ask some basic questions to children in order to improve oral expression and check if they have undesrtood the story: "who is Elmer?", "is Elmer grey?", is he a funny or boring elephant?", "why does he want to be grey?" and so on.
Hope you like it! Best regards,
Angela C.
Hi Angela!!
ReplyDeleteI love this book and I think that you create an interesting activity for children. This book offers you the possibility of thinking about different useful activities. First of all you can listen to the story and afterwards you are able to listen to it again with the images of the book.
You will be able to creat other activites like posting some flascards about the story and children can try to explain the story with their words. You can also create a little role playing using masks of the different characters.
Thank you for sharing it.

DeleteHello Angela,
ReplyDeleteGood choice with Elmer! I think that it is one of the nicest characters of Pre-school’s literature. I love this book, because the story is very nice and very useful to work the diversity with young children. Furthermore, it talks about daily emotions and feelings, so another thing which makes this story very suitable to use it in class.
I agree with Gemma, you have created a very useful exercise with the pps and the podomatic. Children will enjoy very much listening while they are seeing the pictures.
Thank you very much!
